Baidu Inc.'s (Nasdaq: BIDU) mapping service struck a deal with Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) in China today.

As Tesla said on its official Weibo account on Friday, Baidu Maps will now provide its solutions to the American electric vehicle maker.

Baidu Maps will use the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) API technology to provide Tesla with map data services such as map display, real-time road conditions and POI retrieval, according to the National Business Daily.

Founded in 2005, Baidu Maps released the world's first map voice customization function in September 2019. The company has also been working with China Southern Power Grid and Tgood to launch a map of EV charging locations.

Its parent company is developing self-driving cars under the Apollo brand. Baidu is reportedly considering a secondary listing in Hong Kong.

Shares in Baidu have wavered between the red and the green on Friday, peaking at $140.99 early on the day and slipping to $139.42 per American depositary share in the afternoon, down 7 cents.
